Quantico Marine Base in Virginia is the home of NCIS and the FBI crime lab. It is also where the Marine Corps musuem and War Memorial is located. Furthermore, it is where the Marine Corps make young college graduates into Marine Officers.
The Walking Veteran is pictured with Colonel Joe Murray, Base Commander and members of his staff and personel from the public affairs office. It was an extreme honor to be able to speak to this group of Marine heroes for an hour telling them the stories of The Walk Across America. While there, one might of thought that The Walking Veteran might of been a general because the Colonel and others listened and showed exceptional respect, perhaps only as a Marine can do. The Colonel had then requested that they have their picture made with The Walking Veteran before going into his office.
The Walking Veteran thanks The Quantico Marine Base, from the Marine Police, staff, chaplin and on up to the base commander for their hospitality.
The Walking Veteran spoke to the Colonel about all the amazing Marine Veterans that are members of The Walking Veteran group and those met during The Walk Across America.
One of The special moments for The Walking Veteran was when the base commander presented to him a magazine and made the statement: “with what you are doing, you remind me of these Marines who 40 years later are still running in the Marine Corps Marathon”. The Marine Corps Marathon is late in October.
