Walking Veteran Meets with Tupelo Mayor

Walking Veteran Meets with Tupelo Mayor

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton received a special visit Monday from “The Walking Veteran”, Thomas Hudson.

The 63-year-old Airforce veteran is walking across the country both to raise awareness of the mishandling of veterans by the VA and the government, and also investigate more stories of veteran mistreatment throughout his journey.

Hudson began his walk in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is hoping to make it to Washington, D.C., by October to speak with members of congress about making reforms with the VA.

Hudson spent his time with Mayor Shelton asking him about what the City of Tupelo is doing for its veterans, complementing him on the overwhelming generosity of the people of northeast Mississippi, and allowing the mayor to walk alongside him pushing his “walking veteran” cart.

The walking veteran will be heading out of the All-America City Tuesday heading towards Hamilton, Alabama.

Anyone who would like to donate to help him along can go to GoFundMe.com/walkingveteran.
